Did you remember to turn in the permission slip??

Did you remember to turn in the permission slip??

So we match your teen with a coach who figured it out, and remembers exactly what this felt like

Someone your teen will actually listen to.

The

method

Our methodology was built by experts who've spent their careers in adolescent development, education, and professional coaching. Everything we teach is grounded in research on how teens actually grow.

Alex Chow

MEd

Certified high school teacher and youth sports coach with a master's in curriculum development. He translates research on adolescent development into structured, practical coaching, so what happens in a session is built on evidence rather than instinct.

Ryan Goldstein

MAT

MS

Certified Youth Resilience Coach, Certified Parent Coach, and a teacher of twenty years. Ryan shapes how our coaches build trust and hold teens accountable without becoming another adult telling them what to do.

James Douglas

MS

MFT

ADHD and executive function specialist with a clinical background in mental health and family counseling. He creates the standards our coaches to help teens build focus, follow-through, and self-trust.

Meet our coaches

Meet our coaches

Young and relatable, with life experience that makes them worth trusting. They're the kind of adult a teen actually opens up to.

Every one of them has a reason for being an Onsider coach. Usually it's to be the coach they wish they'd had.

Allison

“I was the overthinking, perfectionist kid. Now I help teens trust themselves enough to figure out what they actually want, and go after it.”

Former high school teacher

Creative + structured

Matthew

“Too skinny, never good enough. That was the commentary in my head as a teen. Finding role models got me out of it.”

Former wrestling coach

Pushes your comfort zone

Sophia

“I spent my teens trying to be the right version of myself. Now I start from what a teen is already good at, which most of them have never heard named out oud.”

Social work background

Strengths-first approach

Michael

“Everyone else's opinion of me was the only one I trusted as a teen. Now I work with teen boys on building something steadier than other people's approval.”

Men's work facilitator

Gets past the surface

Maleia

“Confidence wasn't something I always had. I had to learn to build it. Now I help teens build theirs from the inside instead of from getting things right.”

Pilates & yoga teacher

Confidence as a skill

Together, they work on

Together,
they work on

School and next steps

Direction, without the pressure to have it all figured out.

Confidence and identity

Speaking up and putting themselves out there.

Friendships and relationships

Finding their people and feeling like they belong.

Family and home life

Being understood, and asking for what they need.

Screens, sleep, and focus

Building habits that actually stick.

Motivation and follow-through

Turning "I should probably" into done.

FAQs

How is coaching different from therapy?

Both are useful, they just do different jobs. Therapy works on what's clinically going on. Coaching is about where your teen is headed, and the steps to get there. Our coaches don't diagnose or treat, and coaching isn't a replacement for therapy. If your teen needs one, we'll tell you. Plenty of teens do both.

Who are the coaches?

People leading by example. They have successful careers and interesting lives. The kind of adult a teen meets and thinks, okay, that's a way to do it. Each of them has a reason for joining Onsider, usually to be the coach they wish they'd had. Every coach is interviewed, background-checked, and trained on the Onsider Method before they're matched with anyone.

What if my teen doesn't want to do this?

Some are hesitant at first, usually because they think it means something's wrong with them. The first call is where that shifts. They meet their coach, figure out what this actually is, and realize nobody's trying to fix them.

How will I know about what happens in sessions?

Once a month you'll get a written update and a 30 minute call with your teen's coach. You'll hear the themes they're working through, what's shifting, and specific things you can do at home to help. The details of what your teen say in session stays between them and their coach. That's what makes them willing to be honest. The exception is safety, where we'll contact you the same day.

How much does this cost?

Our coaching memberships start at $399 USD per month. Every teen needs something a little different, so we'll sort out the right fit on your intro call.

What if it's not a good fit?

We match on personality, communication style, and what your teen wants to work on. If their first coach isn’t a good fit, we'll match your teen with another coach at no cost. If it's still not working, email us within 30 days of the first session and we'll refund the month. No forms, no back-and-forth.

Why we exist

Most teens aren't in crisis. They're doing fine on paper, but underneath they're lonely, drifting, and carrying more pressure than they let on.

There's no obvious place to send them. Therapy is built for when something's clinically wrong. Tutoring only solves for grades slipping. So they figure it out alone. Slowly. Mostly by luck.

One real relationship with someone they actually listen to can change the direction of a decade.

Your teen doesn't have to figure it out alone.
